Kevin Karplus

Classes

Classes meet MWF 3:30-4:40 in Thimann Lecture 1. You are expected to attend every class.

Discussion Sections

The TA, Doanna Meads, will hold discussion sections Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00-6:00 (in Nat Sic Annex Room 102) and Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00-3:00 (in Crown College 208), beginning Monday 30 September. You are expected to attend at least one discussion section each week.

Office Hours

Kevin has office hours in 315B Applied Sciences, Mondays 11-12 and Wednesdays 5-6 (right after class). He will generally not be available on Tuesdays or Thursdays, except by e-mail. Doanna office hours are Wednesday night 6-6:45pm in The Hungry Slug at Porter College (right after section), and Thursday morning 11:05am-11:55am in Gigi's in the student center (near Performing Arts).

Newsgroup

There is a newsgroup ( ucsc.class.cmpe16) for the class. For posting to the newsgroup, it is generally better to be working from a UNIX machine (or commercial internet provider), so that proper mailing addresses are generated.

Homework

This section contains the homework assignments for Fall Quarter 1996. All assignments are from the book Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications Third Edition by Kenneth H. Rosen (McGraw-Hill 1995)

NOTE: homework assignments may not be available more than a week or so in advance. If you want to have some idea what is coming up and the homework assignment is not available yet, check the corresponding one from the Winter 96 offering of the class.

Exams

The midterm exam will be Monday 4 Nov 1996. The final exam will be Friday 13 Dec 1996 4:00-7:00 in Thimann 1. There will be weekly quizzes (either Monday or Wednesday, depending when I can get the quizzes written).
