Richard Hughey

Professor and Chair of Computer Engineering.
Professor of Biomolecular Engineering
Faculty Advisor of Society of Women Engineers student chapter and UCSC Engineering Honor Society.
I received a B.A. in Mathematics and B.S. in Engineering from Swarthmore College and an Sc.M. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brown University.

My research interests include computer architecture, parallel processing, parallel programming languages and environments, computer applications in biology.

Kevin Karplus and I have created a BS in Bioinformatics program, now part of the new Department of Biomolecular Engineering

Here are talks on the bioengineering and bioinformatics B.S. degree programs.

Here's an introduction to bioinformatics and biomolecular engineering at UCSC (ppt).

I have a directory of TeX files with a README file indexing the whole thing, and a documentation directory that contains the answers to many frequently asked questions (such as my discussion of mouse avoidance and a list of things to check before giving me writing to read), so please take a look!
