I
have completed my Ph.D. with
Prof. J.J. Garcia-Luna-Aceves in the
Computer
and Communication Research Group (CCRG). Our group belongs
to the School of Engineering at
the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC),
where I also received the Master of Science in 1995. I am a member
of the ACM, the
IEEE Computer Society,
and the Gesellschaft for Informatik (GI), Germany.
In
my dissertation work I have focused on coordination issues, such
as cooperative resource sharing, in networked multimedia systems.
The goal is to foster new ways of online collaboration and telepresence
in the use of shared multimedia. In particular, I have developed and analyzed
novel protocols for mediation of conflicts in synchronous user interaction
and for ordered reliable multicast communication.
My
current research interests are computer networks, multimedia systems,
human-computer interaction, distributed systems, security, and
ubiquitous computing, largely centering around issues of telecollaboration.
I
have joined the Computer Engineering Department at Santa
Clara University as Assistant Professor in Fall 1999.
