Objectives:

Warmup program. Review basic camera setup, object transformation and animation. Try out fltk if you haven't used it before.

You can implement the following in stages of increasing complexity:

Read and render the enterprise coor/poly file in: http://www.soe.ucsc.edu/~pang/161/w02/data using wireframe and polygon shading (flat and/or smooth). This should be a simple modification of your previous cmps 160 program.
Set the camera at a distance where you can see the whole action below. Rotate the enterprise around some planet (sphere) that's centered at the origin. You want the planet to be small relative to the enterprise so that you can see the enterprise the whole time it's orbiting around the planet. You can use simple linear interpolation to generate the in-between frames for a few (around 10?) keyframes of the orbit, or you can just generate the path in a for-loop in your code. The enterprise should orient itself so that it's always tangent to its circular orbit.
Add background starfield (or use some large texture mapped polygons in the distance) to the scene. Allow viewpoint to switch from "god's eye-view" to captain's eye-view.
Make the enterprise roll and twist around its axis as it's orbiting the planet. Observe effect from "god's eye-view" and "captain's eye-view".

Grading. This program is NOT graded. Normally, we must be able to compile/test your code. Therefore, code and accompanying make/project files, etc. must be tested for successful compilation at least on the suns in the lab. For PC's, we will be using Visual C++. Also be sure to include a README in your submission as to which platform to use.

Submission. Submission must be done using the submit or xsubmit utility from CATS. Run "quickhelp submit" on a CATS machine to find out more info.

To submit use: submit cmps161-ap.w02 prog0 files
To verify submission use: peek cmps161-ap.w02 prog0

These commands should work from any cats machine, but if there is a problem try from teach.ic. Create and submit a subdirectory called "prog0". It should contain all the files you have in make your program compile/run. Remember that 20% of the grade is towards documentation/readability/style.
