Latest Information:

• The tutoring schedule of our MSI tutor, Mikey, is now posted.
• The FormattedWriter class is part of the tio package. DecimalFormat is part of the java.text part.
• From Brian Hanks: RE time logs. "The web site for submitting programming assignment time logs should be ready tomorrow afternoon. Please tell your students to use their CATS id for BOTH the login name AND the password, and that it does not want their CATS password."
• The pairs have been updated in pairs . The pairs above the ----- line were verified in class today. The names below the line don't have confirmed partners yet. You need to get this issue resolved by this Friday 10/10 in class at the latest.
• For program 1, the input to the program must have the same format as the sample input i.e. 4 integers per line. Otherwise, your program may fail the batch program that tests your program. Also, additional pairs of lines will be used to test the robustness of your program e.g. should be able to handle vertical and horizontal lines as well.
• For more info on setting up tio, look at the 2nd link under Lab Info below. #3 and #4 links are for lab and home setup respectively.

• 10/1/03 lecture:
  • The classpath for the tio package is: /afs/cats.ucsc.edu/users/s/mcdowell/java/public . We'll talk about how to set this up on Friday.
  • The 2nd example as shown on the board does not compile cleanly. See if you can fix it before Friday.
  • If you have problems with the pairing assignment or already have a partner that's different from what was assigned, please let us (brianh, pang, and your assigned partner) know, so that we can arrange something else.
• For those of you who already know Java and find this class repetitious, you may want to consider CMPS 13H If interested, please contact Professor Long, and let me know as well so that your partner won't be left stranded.
