I used to be a graduate student here. Now
I am going to be an Assistant Professor in Computer
Science at Purdue University, where
I will also be associated with CERIAS
studying network security issues.

I earned my PhD in computer engineering working with
J.J. and his Coco group. My dissertation
presented a hierarchical multicast routing protocol (HIP),
showed how it could be made secure (KHIP), and showed how multicast can be used to provide anonymous
communication in the Internet. Before that my master's
thesis showed that the Core Based Tree protocol was incorrect, and
corrected it with the Ordered Core Based
Tree (OCBT)protocol. I was fortunate enough to have gone
through grad school with my geek friend Brian Levine, who has gone
on to better things as an Assistant Professor at UMass.

Though people
may think that you have to work 87% of the time to be a grad
student, in fact I worked hard to make time for play as well. I like
to kayak,
mountain bike, snow board and play volleyball. Since many of these
things are not readily available in Indiana, I am learning to fly and
earning my private pilot's license, which is pretty fun.
