Answering Machine User's Guide

The answering machine was the second demonstratable step in the Aida project. The capabilities developed in the first step of sending a voice gram were augmented to simulate the basic functionality of an answering machine: record and play back a greeting as well as record, play back and delete incoming calls. The following describes the procedure.

Mailing a voice gram

1. Press * to start recording
2. Record your message by talking into the handset
3. Press 9 to stop recording

Record a greeting

1. Press 6 to start recording
2. Record your greeting by talking into the handset
3. Press 9 to stop recording

Play the greeting

1. Press 5

Receive a call (record a message)

1. Press # to simulate an incoming call
2. Listen to the greeting
3. Record a message by talking into the handset
4. Press 9 to stop recording

Play back recorded messages

1. Press 7

Delete recorded messages

1. Press 8
