The UCSC Kestrel Server

The UCSC Kestrel Server can be used online to run Smith-Waterman algorithm protein searches against the SwissProt or NR protein databases, or a nucleotide search against the dbEST part 1 database. Search times for a query length upto 511 residues is about 30 seconds for SwissProt and 2.5 minutes for NR.

The current database dates are: NR Jan 3 2000 SwissProt Jan 3 2000 dbEST, part 1 Jan 2 2000
