DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS

San Jose airport is the closest to UCSC, about a 45-60 minute drive.
San Francisco (SFO) is about an hour and forty-five minutes away, but has slightly better flight connections.

Please use the following directions, if you come by car:

• From SFO take Hwy 280 or 101 south to the Hwy 17 (880) exit. Continue on Hwy 17 south towards Santa Cruz (approx. 25 miles).

• From the San Jose Airport turn right out of the airport, turn left at the next traffic light, and then get immediately into the righthand lane to get on the entry ramp to Hwy 17 south. Continue on Hwy 17 south towards Santa Cruz (approx. 25 miles).

• From the South (Monterey, Carmel, etc.) take Hwy 1 north.

• From the East Bay (Berkeley, Oakland, etc.) take Hwy 880 or 680 south to San Jose.

  Then proceed as follows:

  • Take the Hwy 1 exit towards Half Moon Bay (north).
  • Go straight through the traffic light at the intersection with River St.
  • Stay right, and make a right turn at the next traffic light onto Mission Street.
  • Follow Mission Street to the Bay Street traffic light.
  • Make a right turn onto Bay Street.
  • Continue on Bay Street to the main entrance of the UCSC campus.
  • Bay Street becomes Coolidge Drive as you enter the campus.
  • Continue on Coolidge Drive; it becomes McLaughlin Drive.
  • The Baskin Engineering Building is a three-story building on your right.
  • You can park in the parking structure across the street from the Engineering building. You will need to drive to the end on McLaughlin Dr. and make a left at the stop sign. The entrance to the parking structure is on your left after one more stop sign on McLaughlin Dr.
  • Go to the front of the Engineering building and take the elevator or stairs to the third floor and go through the door you see in front of you as you come out of the elevator.

• The Santa Cruz Airporter (408) 423-1214 (or (800) 497-4997 from anywhere) has regularly scheduled trips (every two hours from 9am until 11pm from San Jose International Airport, and every two hours from 8am until 10pm from SFO). Reservations are recommended.

• ABC Transportation (408) 464-8893 ((800) 734-4313 California only) requires reservations. Call them directly for prices and travel times.
