Editing This Site

This web page is for people who are editing any of the BSOE web sites.  It contains links to information to help you edit the web pages.

The BSOE web site is powered by Drupal. The content on the web site is the collaborative effort of many individuals, all of whom are empowered to edit content themselves. BSOE staff and faculty are generally permitted to edit the BSOE web site after an introductory class. If you would like take the BSOE Drupal class, or would like access to edit content on the BSOE web site, please .

Here are some documents that you will find useful while you are editing web pages on the BSOE web sites:

  • BSOE Web Site Macros
    Contains a list of BSOE web site macros that you can ebmed into web pages to pull information from BSOE databases, rather than hard-coding information into the web page.
  • BSOE Style Guide
    Contains general information about editing copy on the BSOE web sites, including information about BSOE naming conventions, proper use of certain key words and how to format certain types of information (such as phone numbers) consistentely.
  • BSOE Web Editing Videos
    Contains a list of screen capture videos that walk you through step-by-step many of the common editing tasks.  This is a great resource for people who have taken the BSOE Drupal class before, but have forgotten the specifics of how to do something in particular.
  • Copying and Pasting
    Copying and pasting content from programs like Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF or even another web site can cause problems.  Please read this document to find out how to prevent those problems.
  • BSOE Drupal Training Class
    The BSOE webmaster offers occasional classes that teach you how to create and edit web pages using the Drupal system.  You can register for these classes on-line.
