      1. Advanced Placement & International Baccalaureate Test Scores

Advanced Placement & International Baccalaureate Test Scores

Transfer units are gained at the University in accordance with scores earned on College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams. However, not all exam scores qualify for credit toward CS major requirements, even if university units have been granted. In order to obtain "course credit", you must provide appropriate "score" verification to the School of Engineering Undergraduate Student Affairs Office. The following AP and IBH scores are accepted for course credit in lieu of SoE major requirements:

Advanced Placement Credit

CEEB AP EXAM SCORE UCSC CREDIT COURSE
Biology 3, 4 or 5 Biology 3, Concepts in Biology (exempt from Biology placement exam)
Chemistry 5 Chem 1A (allows enrollment in Chem 1B & 1M)
Computer Science: Exam A 4 or 5 Computer Science 12A/L, Introduction to Programming and lab
Computer Science: Exam AB 4 or 5 Computer Science 12A/L, Introduction to Programming and lab &
Computer Science 12B/M, Introduction to Data Structures and lab
Economics: Microeconomics 4 or 5 Economics 1, Introductory Microeconomics
Economics: Macroeconomics 4 or 5 Economics 2, Introductory Macroeconomics
Mathematics: Calculuc AB Exam 3 Math 3 or AMS 3, Precalculus
Mathematics: Calculus AB Exam 4 or 5 Mathematics 19A, Calculus for Science, Engineering, and Math
Mathematics: Calculus BC Exam 3 Mathematics 19A, Calculus for Science, Engineering, and Math is recommended.
Mathematics: Calculus BC Exam 4 or 5 Mathematics 19A, Calculus for Science, Engineering, and Math &
Mathematics 19B, Calculus for Science, Engineering, and Math

International Baccalaureate Credit

IBH EXAM SCORE UCSC CREDIT COURSE
Biology 5, 6 or 7 Biology 3, Concepts in Biology (exempt from Biology placement exam)
Computer Science 5 Computer Science 12A/L, Introduction to Programming and lab
Computer Science 6 or 7 Computer Science 12A/L, Introduction to Programming and lab &
Computer Science 12B/M, Introduction to Data Structures and lab

Note: Students may check with the office of Admissions for details on other AP and IBH examinations that also satisfy university requirements.
