- Q: Can I submit my application materials electronically?
- A: You may submit your materials in electronic format. Faculty applicants use our online faculty position application. Lecturer applicants use our online lecturer application. However, documents should be in PDF format. Please refer to each departments application requirements.

- A: Please see the job announcement for the particular position; different positions may have different deadlines.

U.S. News and World Report (1997) ranks UC Santa Cruz 13th for its commitment to undergraduate teaching. U.S. News and World Report (2001) also named UC Santa Cruz the 26th best public campus in the country.
- Q: What is a typical teaching load for a SOE faculty member?
- A: New assistant professors usually teach 2 courses in their first year, one being a graduate course in their research area. Most other faculty teach 3 courses a year, with reductions sometimes granted for extensive service, and course buyouts. The campus and School also have several grant programs for new and continuing faculty to reduce teaching load in preparation for tenure or for the creation of new courses.
