Selectarama Lab: Stereo, Panorama's, or Morphing.

Due: Thursday May 28. Labs are due at the beginning of class.

All labs will be demonstrated at the start of class, and writeups will be collected at that time. Lab Environment: Computer Engineering/Computer and Information Sciences educational lab. Silicon Graphics Indy's, Octanes, and Indigos.

Location: Applied Sciences 213

Due to the experimental nature of the lab(s), students are expected to solicit help, and find necessary research references. Use whatever sources you find appropriate, discuss assumptions with the instructor, and quickly contact me regarding difficulties and problems. Due to the short time remaining labs will not be delayed.

Descriptions:

Stereo to Depth.

Given a stereo pair, and the camera geometry, solve for the True Range Depth, as defined in your textbook. Save this information in an image. Display the image either as a gray-scale intensity image, or as a height field to examine the quality of the derived depths.

Describe the method used to solve for correlation, the assumptions for the camera geometry, and the source of the stereo pair.

Lab 3, Lab Write-up

A lab proposal is due on May 21st at 12 noon. e-mail a 1 paragraph description of your choice of lab to
craig_wittenbrink@hpl.hp.com
. This proposal will be worth 5% of the grade. You must show in your write-up the pseudo code of the algorithms used for the technique (I. II. or III.) Demonstrations of the labs be required. Also describe the implementation of your program. A listing of the program showing that the program compiles, usage etc. is to be included. I recommend that you start on the lab immediately, as programming projects often take longer than expected.
