What is the UCSC ACM?

We are the UCSC chapter of a larger national society, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). We are CS, CE, and EE students who want to be involved in activities in our major outside of the classroom. This is not only to further our education in art, science, engineering, and application of information technology, but also to start building a network of people that we know in the business, that will hopefully help us upon graduation. We serve both professionals and public interests by an open interchange of information and by promoting the highest professional and ethical standards. Additionally, we are incoming students who feel a little intimidated by things such as UNIX, GCC/G++, and programming topics in general.

We also work to strengthen the bond between the students, the faculty, and the department. A stronger, tighter relationship between the students and their instructors engenders a close-knit and secure learning atmosphere.
