--- C BY DISSECTION This directory contains C/C++ code for the following text: C By Dissection, 4th edition, Al Kelley and Ira Pohl, Addison-Wesley, San Francisco, 2001 The code is suitable for the following environments: Linux Macintosh UNIX Point your browser at ftp.aw.com/cseng/authors/kelley-pohl/cbd4e to find code suitable for the following environments: Windows 95 Windows 98 Windows Me Windows 2000 --- WHAT IS IN THIS DIRECTORY READ_ME -- this file ch01 ch02 ... -- code organized by chapter ap_a ap_b ... -- code organized by appendix line_cnt -- line counts for most of the files ls_CFR -- listing made by the ls -CFR command --- NOTE TO THE READER All the code has been organized by chapter and appendix. Any filename ending in .c in a chapter or appendix directory is either a C or C++ program ready to be compiled and executed. The subdirectories within a chapter or appendix directory contain programs, or files that make up a program. For example, in the directory ch01/exer_03 you will find a "read me" file and two programs: READ_ME pgm1.c pgm2.c The two programs are variations on a theme; see the READ_ME file for the relevant discussion. In the directory ch04/07_heads_or_tails you will find the following files: READ_ME p_r_s.h main.c compare.c ... These files, along with a makefile, comprise a single program that is ready to be compiled and executed. --- Some things are for fun; see the following files: ch05/exer_12.c ch08/11_greater/READ_ME ch08/exer_18/READ_ME ch10/exer_04/READ_ME ch11/07_wrt_words/READ_ME
